60 pound kid in cosco hbb

A year or two ago, we saw how the "not recommended" boosters fit the average 40 pound 4 year old. I thought I'd try a 60 pound 8 year old. Maybe the belt fit would improve with size? Probably not.

The seat purports to booster to 80 pounds. I intend to try my 75 pound 11 year old in it tomorrow.

The belt fit is not going to improve. If he were sitting straight in that seat, his right shoulder would already be about even with the belt guide. That's not going to get better as he gets taller. ;)

even without using the shoulderbelt guide (which is fine), the LAPBELT fit is just HORRID

also... is he too tall for it? he looks as if his head is tilted down... and that the tops of his ears would be level with the top of the booster if he were looking at the camera sitting up properly.

I got my 9 and 11 year olds in the seat today. I actually think the belt fit is almost okay on my 11 year old. I need to find the camera. I probably left it in the van.

Okay, so the shoulder belt fit is pretty bad. Based upon how my kids fit in the nautilus in booster mode, the cosco hbb isn't so bad for lap belt fit for my 11 year old. I think. I wouldn't choose to put her in it. The girls' ears were at the top of the seat.

9 year old is 65 pounds.

yep... conclusion is that belt fit only becomes decent/good when the child has long outgrown the height of the seat.

the solution is that this is how tall and narrow the scenera should be (but with the same recline foot)... and then add a good two additional sets of top slots and give it a 55lb ff weight limit and you'd have a fantastic 90-100 dollar convertible carseat that goes from birth to booster age.
