based on the lack of harness, I'd say it's the pram attachment for a stroller.

well I hope people don't do this often, that was just horrifying to watch! I guess since they are doing crash tests on it though that it must not be very rare.
Yeah, looks like a carrycot. Whether it's designed for use in the car or not who knows but ouch.

In the EU some pram basinett attachments came with car kits, I know the Peg Perego Navetta had an optional car-fixing kit so it could be used in the car.

I rode in a wicker moses basket until I was able to sit up on my own (around 6-7months), which is when my mom decided I needed a carseat, sense I was crawling out of the basket...
She thought she was being safe sense she strapped the basket in with 2 seatbelts though the handles, and put blankets in there for 'padding'
