special needs child and car seat

I have a daughter who has cerebral palsy. She needs a seat that is more than your traditional boosters/high back, but is quickly out growing the 5 point harness. I found the snug seat pilot special needs booster that I think will support her well and has a lot of growth. Does anyone know much about this seat or any experience with it? Thanks for your help.

I don't have a lot of "experience" with it per se, but I am a special needs technician and have explored it a bit.

It's very similar to the Sunshine Kids Monterey booster in terms of height/size.

Two of main differences are:
-The foam positioning harness
-The ability to get a "pommel" around the buckle to prevent the child's legs from "scissoring."

An important thing to note: The foam positioning harness is exactly that. It is used to position the child in the seat and help hold them upright. It's not a 5-point harness so you must also use the lap and shoulder seatbelt just like you would in a booster seat.

So, think of it like a booster seat with some foam positioning options to help support the child.

I have a child with special needs and a snugseat rep brought the pilot to my house for me to try out. It is the sunshine kids monteray booster with a positioning harness, removable velcro side supports, and a removeable depth extension. The harness is 4 point (no crotch piece). I believe I posted pics. I will go look.

Lex would still fit in a traditional 5 point with weight, but only has about 2 inches left on the britax frontier. I am not necessarly looking for the 5 point. She would do fine in a booster with the regular seat belt with added support which is what I think the pilot would bring.

Vamom-did you like the pilot when they brought it out to your home? We would use the lateral supports, the pommel, and I when she is tired she could use the 4 point harness. She has a weak trunk and so when she is fatigued she tends to slouch and lean out of a regular booster. She also has some extention patterns when she is upset or excited. I like that it has room to grow. I am willing to put the money out there if there is room for growth. We would be able to get one paid for through insurance and then if we decided we wanted a second one which we will we would pay. I have our wheelchair rep working on getting one for us to look at. I am just curious if others have had an opinion on it.

Thanks!
