Safety 1st Complete Air 65 in Prius?/moved from Re: AOE RF in the center in a Toyota Prius?

We bought the Safety 1st Complete Air 65 and that doesn't fit in the center of the prius well either. Even after using a rolled up towel as instructed, it isn't as level as it should be when rear facing. I also checked forward facing, and that doesn't look like it will be easy to level either. Any advice for someone with a 8 month old, 20 pounder would be appreciated.

Also, as far as forward facing (not immediately relevant with a child of this age), what leveling do you expect to be doing? A FF seat usually just conforms to the angles of the vehicle seat, with perhaps some slight adjustment possible via a built-in recline mechanism on the carseat. You would not use a rolled towel with a FF seat in any case to modify its angle.

As far as rear facing, the general advice around here is that the seat can be as upright as 30 degrees for an older baby with good head control. The level lines on the seats typically indicate the recline that would be best for an infant (so that a very young child's head doesn't flop forward and compromise breathing).
