Okay so here is the thing,

Tristan's radian is not fitting so well next to Madisyn's decathlon.Well at least not in our car.His seat always tilits like 1/2 an inch at the top(yes it is teethered too very tightly),so yesterday when I took out their carseats tristan's was loose at the latches!!So my dh didn't get a good install and just didn't know, and no matter how tight I got it,it wasn't good enough. We can't get a good install outerboard or with a seatbelt so pretty much the radian has to go.So now I am looking for a new carseat. Here are my options, wish would you choose and why, also I can't wait for the recaro because tristan has no seat right now.

A Regent(which I found online so I need to make a descion quick)
or a Fisher-price safe voyage(Wish i am not to crazy about the covers)

I am thinking he may be too small for a regent(almost 35 inches??) but I don't know he might fit.

I don't want to buy a marathon when I can just spend the extra bucks for a regent and it will last longer.
What would you do??

Since tristan is just 2 can he still be rear facing? if so i'd get him a scenera that will RF to 35lbs then when he out grows that get him into a regent or another hi harness seat... that might be out buy then... :)

Courtney, I just now saw that you are in Chesapeake! Me too :D . I don't know what to tell you about your dilemma, but just wanted to wave:happy-wavehello: at a board member who's local! :) Since we moved back here (singing...in the Navy...sail the seven seas - ok, I'll stop singing), I haven't been able to find a way to be involved in local CPS things at all and it's making me nuts! I was very involved in SC (had a very active coalition, too, which makes a difference), so this is different for me. Enough rambling and again - just a hello!

Since you have Tristan FF already anyway, I would get the Regent. If you wanted to RF him again, then I would try the Radian RF with the seatbelt, because it can be easier than a FF seatbelt install, and then get the Regent when he is a bit older. That all depends on his weight though. If he is too heavy to RF anymore, then I would get the Regent.

A Regent is a great choice, but you most likely will have to put both kids outboard since it is wider than the avg seat- but who knows, maybe it will work side by side since the DC is RF. Also, maybe just re-installing the Radian first, getting it in tight, then installing the DC afterwards will give you a better install. LATCH installs with the Radian are usually pretty easy, I've done it with mine in 4 different vehicles....Anyway, good luck if you decide to sell it- it is heavy, so shipping may be high- it may drive to cost up approaching a new one...unless you sell it locally.

I agree. Install the Radian first. LATCH is usually really easy... there are a few tricks to try.

Attach the LATCH connectors and pull all the slack out... then feed the excess belt through the velcro on the inside of the seat to the front of the seat. Kneel in the seat and pull all the excess slack out of the LATCH belt. Sometimes you have to make sure the LATCH connectors are not getting caught going around the seat...you can get a much tighter install if the LATCH connector is pointing up and going over the grey hump into the belt path than if it is going around the grey hump into the belt path. Hope that made sense!

If installing the Radian first and the Decathlon second does not help any, than I would probably go with the FPSVD, since as you pointed out, there will be newer better seats that may even harness longer once he is out of the FPSVD.
