I think the Husky has to go....

After fiddling and fooling with the thing, I thought I had the problem worked out. Seemed as though the harness adjuster was working fine---it doesn't lock up when uninstalled--it's obviously getting caught on something underneath. So yesterday, it worked fine. Today--in the car pick up line at school, again--it sticks. Fortunately this time it stuck when it was almost tight, but I can't deal with it anymore. It only has about a year left before expiration. What I can't figure out is why all of a sudden it's giving me fits? I have had this seat in this car for 4 years now with no problems. Now it's a royal PITA. THe recline bar isn't an option--I just don't have long enough belts.

So, I measured Elliot today. He's 6.5 years, 54 lbs. and 50 inches tall. As of right now he is very close to moving to the top slots on the Husky.
He rides in a Parkway very well in dh's car, and I have side curtain airbags. I am tentatively thinking about another Parkway--I really am afraid that a Regent would give me the same issues.

Is there anything else out there that is new and exciting that I'm going to be able to get any use out of? He's a big kid, and I hate to move him out a harness seat, but I don't want one that he's going to outgrow in 6 months. I'm not a newbie here--been here a long time, and I know the facts about harnessing. I am also trying to be realistic. No flames please! :)
Thanks!

How about recline bar and short belt path? No? Maybe moving the straps to the top slots would move everything into a nice working place? Maybe call and tell Britax about it just so they know there's an issue?

The Monarch is a mighty nice booster... more SIP than the Parkway, and it can be used backless later (which would be no SIP, but eh, it's still double duty over the Parkway...). Or the Jane' Indy Plus, in a position with LATCH is a super solid seat and really nice. My long legged 9 yo ds is really loving his Recaro Start lately, it's got terrific leg support (the PW he complains hurts his back...I could cry...I love the Parkway...)

Thanks Julie. If my kids ever stop fighting today I will go and try some of those suggestions. I've never installed the beast other than long belt path--I'll have to look up all of the revised recall stuff---and see if I can find the recline bar somewhere. I think I may move the slots up first--that one is the easiest!
Not thinking too clearly today--kids fighting and being irritable does that .....
