My 4.5 month old is around 11 pounds and I don't have the infant insert in. He fits fine without it and the angle was making his reflux worse. Several techs have told me that you must take it out at 15 pounds but you don't have to use it until they hit that point, you can take it out before if they fit well without it.

I took it out. DD was about 10 pounds give or take (I would have to look through pictures to know for sure) and about 5.5 months. Before that, I liked the insert. I liked the angle it had her at and I liked the fit. Once she hit 5 months or so she started looking uncomfortable and like she wanted to sit up a bit more. The fit was good without the insert so we took it out.

I just took it out. M is 7 months and 12 pounds and was getting to be over the 2nd slots with it in, but without it is well below the second slots. It was getting hard to tighten the harness with the insert in.

I haven't had it in since I bought it. He was 11 months though, and right under 15 pounds when I bought it.

I took it out when he was about 12lbs. I always hated the fit with the insert in and I finally got fed up with it.
