From bad to worse...

Things have finally escalated to the point of Child protection services stepping into my friend/neighbor and removing her child from her care and placing her with me temporarily. I have physical custody until Wednesday when we go to court. This child has a wheelchair and needs to be transported with her. I have just been sitting it in the cargo area in the back of my van (2005 dodge grand caravan) but is there a way to secure it so that it does not become a projectile?

When I worked with special needs kids and we needed to transport their wheelchairs in the vehicle, we used special ratchet straps that attached to tie downs in the back of the van.

Does your van have any looped attachement points in the back for securing cargo? You can find regular ratchet straps at any auto-parts store (they are typically used in truck beds) or you could get creative with strong rope.

I was almost thinking something like a tie down... My seats are the stow n go and they do have some places where I could use ratchet straps at. I will have to give it a go...Thanks
