When is a backless booster okay to use? Is it ever better to use than a high-back?

a high back is usually better because it provided some SIP. I guess it depends on the person on when its "ok". for my kids they wont be in a backless until probably 9. I usually say to keep a child in a high back until they outgrow it then move on to a low back.

thanks! that is what I told my dh. He wanted to take a backless with our ds on a trip in December and I told him he'd have to take the HBB with him because it actually offers some SIP.

How old is your son and what does the trip involve? If I were flying with a kid over 6 years and 50 pounds, I'd possibly use backless if I knew what what vehicle it would be going in.

There reaches a point where a backless fits better. Here are pictures of my second son in the monterey with the back and without and he fit better without the back because he then had more thigh room.

At this point he was 10, 4 foot 9, and around 80 lbs.

At your son's age and weight I'd take a high back.
