USAA car seat replacement

I noticed lots of you have had seats replaced through USAA...I'm in the process of getting one replaced.

Does anyone know if they make you buy the exact one that was installed at the time of the accident? Or do they just care about how MUCH they pay?

It looks like they just want to know how much the original seat is worth and they reimburse you based off of the retail value of that seat. You shouldn't have to buy an identical seat to replace it. I hope you have a good experience getting your seat replaced.

I have never had seats replaced with USAA but I can say that they have awesome customer service. We had a power outage and lost all of the food in our fridge and freezer. They deposited $$ in our account to replace the losses immediately. It was around $600.

I lost a Roundabout 55 and a Maestro in a crash and replaced them with a My Ride and another Maestro. USAA (other party's insurance) refunded me the total of the replacement seats, not the value of the crashed seats.

Maybe they do it differntly when you are not the member?

They just said to get something comparable. I had zero issues with them. LOVE them.

Thanks so much for your help! I had to fax them the info about the crashed seats and I'm waiting for the go-ahead to order new ones. (Although one is a Britax and we were a "minor" accident, so guess they won't offer to replace that one??)

Happy to hear that they will be easy to work with.

FYI, I had an equally wonderful experience with Geico when my car was smashed into while parked on the street...they reimbursed me immediately for a seat that actually cost more than the one that was ruined. I love good customer service!
