Good sales or deals on big girl Dresses?

I've assessed my children's clothing. The only items lacking now are a few nice-looking, modest, non-holiday, dresses for my 9 an 11 year old girls. The ones they have are either very Christmasy or have obviously been through a few girls before. I am looking to shop online only. I want skirts to the calves (for growth room), sleeves, and decent neck lines.

I'd recommend finding a few brands that you like and creating ebay saved searches and alerts for them.

Here I've been searching just to find an example... I finally resorted to looking for patterns instead of actual dresses. I only found one. (The with sleeves version)

It seems that the other girls my girls' age either wear skirts (which my girls refuse to wear. We have several.) or their mom sews. I sure wish I could sew.

Here is a company that will make dresses for you for $30.00 a piece. Not what you will call cheap, but with three four girls to be able to wear them, I don't think it is too expensive.

Thanks for hunting for me. I think I'm just going to stalk ebay and the thrift store. Maybe I could find something decent. The girls want dresses like the Bonnie Jean ones. We have some, but in sizes 8 and below.

But that dress is a bit more used than what I'm looking for. Where are these bonnie jean dresses anyway? I've only found the sleeveless ones.

Bonnie Jean sells dresses at most of the major departments stores (Macy's, Dillards, Penneys, Kohls). You won't find much with sleeves.

I liked some of those dresses. I think I'm just going to have to take a day to drag my kids all over Salt Lake to find some dresses. I hate shopping and having to go such a distance makes it more torturous.

Is there something you could barter with for one of the mom's that sews? Maybe she hates to bake/needs a sitter?

You buy the fabric/thread, she makes a few dresses. In return for her time sewing, you give of your time doing whatever you do well.

I like what they picked out.

Just a tip - the style of dress you typically show your girls in is called a "smocked" dress. If you search that in ebay, you will have luck.
