Different crotch buckles

So I have 2 MR65's. 1 in Sonata(DOM-8/2010), 1 in Mavo(DOM-1/2011) and I noticed the crotch buckles are different but when I was talking to Graco they stated that the crotch buckles had not been changed. I am wondering because I like the one on my Mavo MR65 more and was wondering if I could order 1 for my Sonata MR65 but Graco said that you cannot order new harness straps or crotch buckles??

Do you have pics? I'd love to see the difference. I've got 2 and mine would be the original ones since they were bought the week the seats came to Canada.

Sorry no pics right now but the bukle on the Sonata is like the one on the GN and the buckle on the Mavo is like the Simpson one posted in another thread. I will see I can get pics.

I'll go see if I can dig up the Simpson thread to see it so no rush on pics. As for Graco not selling replacement buckles and harnesses, what would they do if someone damaged theirs and needed a replacement? Maybe you got a dumb rep. If you're motivated, call back tomorrow and speak to someone different to see what they say.

Yup thats the new one that they have on the smart seat. If you look on their website they also have those on the new comfort sports. I much prefer the old style my smart seat is hard to do and takes a lot of pressure to get a click from the tongs.

Is the actual harness different too? Like thinner? It looks different in the pictures, I wonder if their not switching to a lighter harness like on the smart seat too.

I agree. I dislike the new buckle. They have it on the SR30 too. I have a hard time buckling it, but when I had a 6 year old using the Smart Seat, she could buckle it easier than I could.

OP, try registering your seat online, and ordering replacement parts there.

I have a vote for the new over the old. I strongly dislike that older one, it's huge and the push down bugged me immensely. I love the buckle on my ss.

I love the old buckle because it's the only one my kids can undo themselves. Pushing down is easier than pushing in while they are sitting in the seats.

For those struggling with the new buckle, try this: put the buckle together like usual, pushing down on the tongues. Then, when it seems you can't get that last little bit needed to get it to click, push the top of the tongue back, towards the child's belly. It's like it rotates a bit at that last little bit. At least, that's what I found when playing with the SS. I didn't care for it.

I LOVED the old ones. I wish it was on ALL seats. I hated the new one soo much I had to take it back for a different seat. My son liked the cup holders too. I wound up with a Boulevard70cs which my son doesn't like the lack of leg room. He liked the SS but I can't do the buckle with my weakness from whiplash.

I haven't seen or tried the new, but HATE the old in my SS1. I constantly get that little "hook" on the end caught in their clothes while trying to get it out from behind them... makes me batty!

I haven't got to play with the new style, but I LOVE the old style! It's my favorite of all time.

It's really easy, IMO, and I don't have to shove my hand behind the buckle and all up in the kid's area to unbuckle them, I just had to push down.

I don't use the MR, well I put it in my mom's car so I don't have to deal with it just because of the old style buckle. The hooks on those buckles have snagged so many sweaters and longies I just couldn't take it anymore!!!
