Printer Ink

Okay, people, where do you buy your printer ink?

Do any of you use those refill thingies? I did that once...gosh, 5-6 years ago, at least. I remember it being messy.

We generally buy ink...at walmart, sams, target...sometimes office max. Since both printers are out of ink, I'm dreading buying any.

(Printers are HP, I know---but it's totally coincedental. lol)

We just started having our HP printer cartridges refilled at WalGreen's. SO much cheaper than buying new - we've been happy so far.

I have an HP printer also. I get my ink at Costco. I also tried to refill my own several years ago. It was messy and shortly afterward, my printer stopped working. Maybe related but maybe not.

But the new refills are probably much better. I might try having it done somewhere but I won't do it myself! :p

Im not sure what Im going to do now. I have an OLD lexmark printer from like 95 or so and the ink is no longer being made(so Im told). I can find it online but it is way more than I ever paid. I love my printer. It is a black only basic printer... all it does is print in black&white lol! I love simple :D
so my sis gave me her old printer, which is a lexmark from like 04. I figure walmart will have the ink, but its all complicated. Its a fax, copier, scanner, and printer all in one- and you can talk on the phone through it... Im skerd of it lol!

I just bought 3 different cartridges from http://www.inkandbatteries.com/

They are remanufactured and so far, I've had no problem. I have used 2/3 of them... the 3rd is for dh's Dell, and he hasn't got around to using it yet.

Their prices are really good, so I will probably buy from them again!

I refil my hp cartridges, and buy the ink from Island Inkjet (A little kiosk in the mall). The trouble with hp cartridges is the print head is built in the cartridge (which is why they are so expensive) and they don't last very long. They can only be refilled 2 or 3 times. If you run them completely dry refill them right away, or the print head will dry out and clog (and won't ever clean out). Also don't leave the used cartridges sit around for a while before or after refilling. Keep using the same one until its shot and then throw away or recycle. I've never had my cartridges proffessionally refilled, so disregard this advice if you choose that route. The colours aren't exactly the same after you refil, so if you're printing photo's for long term keeps, use the factory cartridge, but refilled are close enough for everything else.
