RadianSL65 harness adjuster problemo

I have a Radian65SL that lived mostly in a closet.

DH got a new car so I installed our RN65SL FF in it but the harness sometimes slips unless I push down on the harness adjuster while pulling the harness tight.

The adjuster is clean, everything is properly routed, properly cleaned. Basically, everything is on the up & up but after buckling DD1 in, I can pull on the harness and it will loosen unless, I make sure to push down on the adjuster while tightening her seat.

I could deal with it in my car but this seat needs to be in DH's car. And I *cough* don't think he will ever remember.

Is this a common problem and should I bother trying to contact SSK this week?

I have the XTSL, and I know I have to remember to push the little adjuster button down to "lock" the harness in place after I tighten it. I usually flip it up when I'm doing the tightening. Not sure if this is the same on the 65 though. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

Yeah, I've heard this problem quite a few times before. ;)

The people who contacted SKJP received a replacement, IIRC. I'd give them a ring.

From me? Sometimes I can't remember if I've posted about a topic or just composed the thread in my head. This seems recall worthy IMO.

I don't even want a replacement. I hate the Radian. I'd prefer a tube of lube and call it a day.
That last sentence sounds oh so wrong.

Because of the infrequent use, I am sure he wont remember to push the adjuster down.

Nah, wasn't from you. I just know that a few other members have had this same thing, lol. And yes, that last sentence will be quoted into another thread in the near future.

I don't blame you, I don't like my RN all that much either. I'd probably contact SKJP and see if they'll give you a replacement. It should be better, and then your DH wouldn't have to remember.

That is an issue that several people (myself included) have had with the Radian. This is a MALFUNCTION, as you should not have to push the tab down to lock the harness in place. It should stay locked unless you manually release the adjuster tab. Please report this to NHTSA.gov . It's very important to report this problem so they can decide if enough seats are affected to do a recall.

You should also contact SKJP. They have been made aware of this issue, but they might not say that. Believe me, you will NOT be the first person to tell them you're having this issue.
In the mean time, please consider using a different seat because there's just no way to know when the harness may come loose.
