1993 Eurovan 2nd row bench seat???

Hello

My wife and I have a 1993 Eurovan MV Weekender. From what I can find from searching this website, the 3rd row bench seat is approved for a child seat in the center and outboard positions.

I know the 2nd row, rear facing, jump seats are not acceptable for child seats, but if install a factory, forward facing, 2nd row bench seat (with factory parts, but from what I can tell only has lap belts) is that a safe/approved spot for a child seat. (She would like the baby to be closer to her instead of all the way in the back row.)

This is what it would look like installed -

We're hoping to keep the Eurovan, as we both like it, and it will be great for vehicle when our kid is older.

Thanks.

I don't have a concrete yes or no answer (hopefully someone else will), but I don't see how that's much different from people swapping their (factory parts/installed) captain's chairs for benches in other minivans (that allow the conversion). I know those are acceptable to use for carseat installations.

Lapbelts are fine for installing carseats, assuming you're able to get an acceptable installation (1" or less of movement at the beltpath, etc). Obviously, it's many years off for you, but once you have a child ready for a booster seat or adult seatbelt, they will need to have a lap/shoulder belt.

Hope you find your answer soon - good luck!:)
