Car seats on airplane

We have the Evenflo Symphony 65 Convertible Car seat. We are planning on using it on the airplane this week for our 20 month old son. When looking at the airline website, it says if the car seat is wider than 16 inches it will not fit in the seat. What?

Anyone have this car seat and fly with it? Not sure what to do as we need his car seat.

It should fit. There may specific situations where it might not fit a few of the seats, but they should move you to a seat where it will install better.

Before you leave, print out the following FAA document which indicates that as long as you purchased a seat for your child, they should accommodate his seat as well.
