I am curious about how to do this safely. Dh has a work truck. ford F250? The air bag turns off on the passenger side. Are there different rules for transporting kids in these? It is a 2 seat truck. We are in PA.

There aren't any restrictions, except it is really tough to have more than the CR and driver in a truck. Any chance of a club cab?

Install seat correctly. Turn off air bag. Move seat back if possible.

My dad has a chevy s10 with essentially 2 seats in it. It has a useless jumpseat in back that can't be used since it faces the side.

I let my kids ride in it on occasion. Under 3, they rearface. Under 5, they use our Husky, tethered, as it's the easiest seat to get in with the forward of the bight seatbelts. After 6, they use a good highback booster. The seat is all the way back and the airbag is turned off with a key.

It is not my ideal vehicle choice for the kids to ride in. But sometimes they accompany my dad or dh to bring things to the dump or home depot or hauling things. It makes them happy to spend time with papa or dh and they absolutely LOVE riding in the truck.

DH used to have a F150 and curently has a ranger. The Radian installs/ed well rear-facing in both. I never tried FFing, we only had DD when he had the F150 and I only tried in the ranger so that we would know in an emergency situation. It wasn't ideal, but there was a spot to tether (at least in the F150) so I felt OK about it. DD LOVED being able to sit next to Daddy.

Same thing here. My son wants badly to go with DH when he goes to The MAN STORE.. (home depot) and it has a key turn off for Airbag with an indicator light to make sure it is off, The seat is all the way back and he is in the GN. It is a huge red truck and My son just loves it.

My boys ride w/ DH in his truck. It's a single cab but has shoulder belts all the way across so they can both go if needed. They've been riding w/ him for a long time, harnessed when they were younger. Ilana has never gone w/ him b/c we usually only have boosters and no Olivia since she's still rfing.
