    Britax convertible in Civic?

Hello - My daughter will soon be too tall for her Graco Snugride 35 so we need to get a rear-facing convertible seat for her. My heart is set on a Britax after reading reviews, however I have a tiny civic. ANy recommendations on what to get? Or will I have to go with another brand, and if so, which one? Any thoughts would be greatly greatly appreciated!!!!!!

The britax seats will fit great in a small backseat. We had a 1994 2-door nissan sentra and a 1984 2-door ford escort. We had the older version britax and they were taller then the new ones and they fit great.

There are several seats that will cost you less and last you longer. They include the graco myride, safety1st complete air, truefit, evenflo triumph65. All carseats pass the same testing, so no one can say a britax is any safer then a $50 cosco scerena.

One of the newer model Britaxes will work well, IMO. They are a bit shorter front to back, making them fit better in small cars. They are also super easy to install and use. I would look at the Marathon 70 and the Roundabout 55. Albeebaby has them on sale right now, making the MA70 $202 and the Roundabout55 $160.

The Britax should fit well front to back, and even sideways if installed w/ a seatbelt. They fit my Honda Fit very well allowing the front seats to be all the way back. We will be installing a blvd all the way to the side w/a belt to allow space for our other 2 backseat riders. If you are close to a store that allows you to try seats out in your car, take other kinds out to see. We did and the only thing that fit w/ front seats back were the Britax. Scenera came close one notch up. But I felt the Britax would protect more outboard if hit on the side. It is just more substantial feeling of a seat to me.

I read this and thought, "why would someone install a Britax seat sideways? Is this something new?"

    Re: Britax convertible in Civic?

If i were buying a Britax seat right now for a little girl i would buy the Britax Marathon in Allison (i love the pink with brown dots!)

If i wanted to have the option of using it for a boy later, (or just wanted something gender neutral) i would choose the cowmoo marathon.

I'm not really sure what the exact differences are between the MA and BLVD, but i love the Allison print for a girl, so that's what i would get

(i wouldn't buy a Roundabout 55, since the MA and BLVD has a no re-thread harness, and the 55 doesn't)

    Good luck deciding!

What year is your Civic? I have a 2006 and have no issues with ANY of the seats I have tried. Some are not my favorites to have in a Civic, but they fit.

    Re: Britax convertible in Civic?

Hello! You all are so wonderful thank you so much for responding. I have a 2001 civic sedan. I will look at the Marathon. So I Marathon over Boulevard or Advocate? I go back and forth on the Roundabout because I am concerned that my 95 percentile daughter at 6 months daughter (no idea how heavy/tall she is now because her next appt is at 1 year!) will outgrow the seat too fast. Perhaps I am dreaming as Mom is only 5'2". Sorry, tangent.

Maybe this is a silly question but - I am assuming that my passenger seat will be unusable if I install any of these rear facing? I wont having trouble seeing out the side of my car will I?

I am sorry if these questions were all answered already.

I have my older Marathon in my 08 Civic, passanger side, rear facing for my 17 mths old and my roommate who is 6' 1" has no trouble sitting in front. I love my Marathon in my Civic, goes in great on all seats and I can get a nice recline or a more upright seat.

I dont understand the installing it in sideways comment either? Also, thank you all so much, it seems like the marathon is the favorite...

How tall are you? I am 5'2 and was able to get one of the new boulevards behind my seat in a acura cl coupe (which has a smaller seat than your civic) it fit wonderfully. Even if you are taller than that you might be able to install one in the center. The roundabout55 would me my suggestion but if I could get the BLVD you might be able to as well...try to go to babiesrus and try them out

Your front passenger seat won't be unusable unless you're installing at a 45 deg angle, which is unnecessary for a child who is outgrowing an infant seat. I've had many different convertibles (including the Britax ones) in my 2004 Civic (same generation as yours) without issue.
