I remember a youtube video about this when I first started looking into car seat info. It was something like "Elmo is not safe!"

Ah here it is, posted Feb. of last year

It took them a year to admit to an issue that this guy discovered was generating a 75% failure rate? And their fix is a tube of lube? Welp, add another seat manufacturer to the lofty recall ideals set by Evenflo...

I haven't read all of that thread about the video I posted yet, but now I'm pretty freaked out. Some people were mentioning that this could happen with any Dorel seat since they all use the same adjusters. I JUST bought 2 CAs and now I will be really paranoid that they are going to break. Is there any chance of that, or is it a thing where it is *only* on certain Dorel models?

I would say it could be on other models. It's not like this isn't a problem that has been happening for years and years. The adjusters have always been sticky. I would just be in the habit of making sure the adjuster is locked as a matter of course. Of course I do this for every seat just because kids like to stick things in slots and I can't count the number of times I've found stuff stuck in there. (Usually Cheerios)

That same thing happened to my Safety 1st Intera in 2007. I called, filed a complaint, they said it was user error and wouldn't fix it or send a replacement.

I recently bought an OnBoard 35 for my baby that is due next month. I saw this recall last night and lost all trust. I returned the seat (Even though it's not on the list) to the store and just ordered a Graco SnugRide 35. I feel MUCH better.

As you may have heard, Dorel Juvenile Group, in cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), has decided to issue a recall of certain Dorel child restraints. There is potential for the harness adjustment strap to loosen during use, possibly increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Consumers should immediately contact Dorel at (866) 623-3139 (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m-5 p.m. EST) for information on obtaining a free repair kit. You can also visit http://www.djgusa.com/usa/eng/Safety-Notices for further information.

The models affected were manufactured between May 1, 2008 and April 30, 2009 and include Alpha Omega, Alpha Omega Elite, Enspira, Priori, Prospect and Vantage convertible seats, as well as onBoard and Mico infant car seats.

Here at Diapers.com, we value the trust that parents place in us and are committed to your child’s safety. So I got the tube of lube too...

We have a Maxi Cosi Priori, Dorel never sent the labels to send it back though (so here it remains, and I'm too chicken to use it). The issue is that when you pull the strap to tighten the harness, the metal part moves (as it should) but remains in that position and doesn't come back into the "locked" position.
