There is NO way a newbie would fit in a MA70

I just got one for DD2 (9 1/2 months, about 17 pounds and 27 inches or so, yes she's short like her mama). She BARELY fits in it. I'm guessing a baby under about 14 pounds, unless they had a long torso would not fit in this seat.

I'd LOVE some pictures to prove me wrong though!! ;)

The infant padding does wonders! Here is my 6 pounds/19 inch baby in it:

awww! I was wondering :) Thank you for the picture.

How tacky that they don't INCLUDE that with the seat. Good grief, it's not like it's a cheap seat either.

Thankfully we don't need it since DD is already almost 10 months old, but I'd be pretty ticked if I got the seat, intending for it to be the seat for a newbie, only to put the baby in it on the way home from the hospital and find that it's WAY too big.

Glad to help with the pics :) You would have to take the HUGS off for a noob, I couldn't get the straps tight enough with them on, but this isn't his seat so I didn't want to deal with it!

Yep, I just posted about this last week. I put my 9 month old grandson in it and the straps were still above his shoulders. I had to put him in the TFP (and he still needed the infant padding) and his 2.5 year-old brother in the MA70 instead. And yes, they should include the infant insert and cup holder given the price of the seat!

Is the RA55 the same bottom slot? J fit just fine when he was pretty young. Cant remember how old but he was little. Hes on the 2nd from bottom now at just 12 months. You guys and your bitty babies :p

Pay $300 for a seat that doesn't include the infant insert? Then you get the joy of paying Britax's astronomical shipping ... good grief!

On top of that, the MA70's picture SHOWS the infant insert on the package, so my assumption would be that it comes with the seat. That really stinks.

The infant padding and infant insert are two different things. The padding comes with the seat but the insert is a foam wedge that goes under the cover like the premie insert on the chaparone.

ack, brain dead moment. I know the difference but totally got thrown off when looking at the website! I still don't understand though. These seats are more expensive that most on the market, and they are rated from 5lbs, but you can't really use them at that point unless you purchase additional items from their website.

I guess it makes sense that they don't include infant insert since most don't buy a convertible until after the infant seat is outgrown, but with the cost of the seat already so high, it really should be included (JMO of course)

I love Britax seats, but it just seems if a product is rated to be used with infants, it should come with the necessary equipment to be used with an infant. (their crazy shipping charges bug me to pieces though. It was going to cost me MORE than the actual chest clip, to ship it!) just my :twocents:

I just ordered the MA70 from Amazon this weekend for my 3 month old daughter. She is average height, but above average for weight. We tried her in it at BuyBuyBaby and she seemed to fit fine, but it was not installed in our car at the time. It is supposed to get here today and I hope it fits!!! :)

The infant padding and foam-y insert are 2 different things.

The MA70 comes *with* infant padding and it does an excellent job. I would have had absolutely no problem whatsoever having my 8 lb 4 oz 21.5 inch newborn in (though, yes, the HUGS would have had to have been removed to tighten the harness properly).

I just a blvd70 for Tuck. In the house he was on the third from bottom position, but in the car I had to move it back down to the first. He's even with the second but I like his head more centered in the wings.

You've now got me wondering. I'm going to try my 6 month son in one today. He's 22 pounds/27.5 inches. A little fatty.

The RA55 didn't come out until August-September. and I recall your "little" guy outgrowing the Keyfit and SR32 by then. ;)

I meant little as in young, not little as in itty bitty size LOL He was about 6 months I think when we got ours. He seemed so much past the first slot that I have a hard time imagining 9 month olds not fitting. I mean, I know he's big but was he really THAT big?? I guess so. :p
