Tether part # for 2002 Grand Caravan

While NHTSA is involved in the curriculum, to not have it even MENTIONED as a safety issue AT ALL, means that the risk is so miniscule as to not really be a concern for most people.

The ones you see panicing about the Gen3 seatbelt issue are NOT technicians.

Hi! As Jennifer stated, please keep your twins rear-facing to the height or weight limit of the convertible seat. It is much much safer. My DD rear-faced until she was just over 3 years old. She still wishes she could. There are many links/articles/crash videos on the benefits of rear-facing. Do a search on these forums.

As far as the third-row tethers: I have used them on occasion for friends kids. I really don't see a huge issue with this-they are attached to the same place as the 2001 top tethers and those are fine to use. It is also the approved top tether kit for the Durango.
I personally believe that it isn't listed in the LATCH manual because there are already 3 top tether points installed from the factory.

What carseats are your kiddos in?

Jennifer, Sonja and Renee:

Thank you for your great information. Based on your responses we have decided to hold off turning our twins ffing until a later time. I really appreciate this forum and the information it has provided to us in this issue.

Renee, the videos you provided regarding the benefits to keeping our little ones rfing really helped to send the message home for me... the reality is very shocking...! As a Mom I knew, but the videos were an eye opener. Thanks for that! We are located in Canada and I will plan a visit to our local ICBC location to speak to the child car seat specialist once we get closer to needing to turn the little ones ffing...but that wont be for some time now... :p

My reason for wanting to turn ffing at 1 year was mostly a matter of convenience for Mommie. Bad back and weight of babies for rfing seats ...ffing just seemed much simpler, but of course i would never compromise safety for the inconvenience to Mommie. So thanks again to everyone - you have made our children that much safer!

Cheers,
Debbie :D

I have a Regent which means that I can't put it in the 3rd row due to the lack of tether. The Regent must be tethered and I do not want to put it in a spot where there is no headrest...and that's where the one tether point is. Irritates me to no end. Not to mention the fact that my ds has no room for his legs in the 3rd row.

Bottom line is I *HATE* my 02 Caravan. When I get a new vehicle..I want to smash that van into pieces with a bat.

I didn't think a Regent needed headrests. Isn't it reinforced all the way up the shell?

That's kind of funny to me (about the headrests)... I actually remove mine when installing child restraints. They install much better without one and the Apex is the *only* seat that actually requires a headrest to be in place.

Yup, I always remove the headrests too. Makes installation way easier.

The Apex needs a headrest. I think I also heard the new Auto Booster needs a headrest too. IMO BAD CHEAP Design.

The Regent is nowhere near as flimsy. I would have no problem installing it center third row.
