What to tell the others?

I just posted on Facebook about my carseat search for my mom's car and how I don't want a seat belt dedicated booster bc they aren't safe for younger kids. I'm gonna need some back reason why they aren't safe. You know... If they are not meant for them, why does it have it that weight/height, blah, blah, blah??

What do I say? I have several friends who have children younger and smaller than mine in seat belted boosters.

i don't believe there is any data that really proves that boosters are unsafe if they meet the reqs. the problem is maturity. most young riders aren't mature enough to sit still the entire ride.

I know I saw somewhere about seatbealts using more force than a harness, whicb is not good for kids under age 6 because their bones arent developed as well. Did I read that correct?

How young are the children? The skeletal maturity breakpoint is thought to be about 4 years old. The maturity (ie ability to sit still) usually comes a little later, around age 5-6. For children younger than 4, the Belle's gift video from youtube is pretty effective IMO.

I believe there's a study (which I never can find, just find discussion of... maybe Wendy has the link?) that shows kids under five are under higher risk of head injury when boostered. Or something like that. Anyone know what I'm talking about and have a link?
