3 across in a Jeep Commander and Jeep Grand Cherokee

Hello all,

I am looking for some suggestions in how to get 3 car seats across in an '07 Jeep Commander (1 headrest removed) and a '10 Jeep Grand Cherokee. We are expecting a third in a few months and are not in a position to get new cars.

The current set up:

Grand Cherokee:

3 1/2 year old, 38 lbs. in a prior-generation Britax Boulevard front facing.
16 month old, 16 lbs, in a new Britax Advocate 70 CS rear-facing.

Commander:

3 1/2 year old in a prior-generation Britax Diplomat (which she is close to growing out of)
16 month old in another Britax Advocate 70 CS.

These seats are giant so I'm wondering if nothing is going to fit with them. Any thoughts on what to replace (we'd really like to keep the Advocates since they are brand new) and what to put the baby in?

Thanks!

Unfortunaely the Advocates are going to be your problem. They are huge and just don't do well in a 3 across.

I had an '06 Jeep Commander and could fit 2 MAs/2 Radians RF and a Harmony Literider. It was tight but it worked. I also had RF MA/Graco SafeSeat/Graco Turbobooster (backless). That was very tight and had I known then what I do now I would nit have had that infant bucket. It pressed up against the MA and leaned a tad because of it.

FF seats are pretty much incompatible with the fixed headrests so you will need to put the FF seat in the center.

You could probably fit RF Britax seat (not Advocate)/FF Radian/infant bucket

Do you already have an infant seat? I would suggest something on the narrow side like a Chicco

We have to get a new infant seat because of it's age.

And because we have both carseats outboard right now, we had one of the Commander's headrests removed when we turned our 3 year old front-facing. So the front-facing one doesn't have to be in the middle, but the 3 year old's the most agile, so it's easier for her to climb into the middle anyway.
