I went to TRU to get DS a toy w/ the b-day money my inlaws sent him. While there I of course decide to go cruise the seats. Good thing I did, a lost mommy trying to decide what to get for her 2.5yo DD. I asked weight & height (her DD wasn't w her), 23lbs & she wasn't sure on height but said she's in ave percentiles. I asked her if at 23lbs is she still willing/wanting to RF her DD. She wasn't too sure but was leaning towards a yes. After I explained the physics of safety between RF & FF in a crash she said she wanted to RF. I then asked her her budget. She said she wanted to stay in the $100 range. I showed her the MR65, OA & CA (I chose only these 3 as 1) the TRU we were at doesn't have a big selection & 2) I didn't want to overwhelm her any more than she already was). I explained that I know that they are over $100 but broke down costs based on likely length of use. She didn't know/understand that these seats could keep her DD harnessed to a very likely 5 or even 6. She asked which I would choose if I was picking & told her I'd personally go for the CA but that they are all great choices. She started to get wary that her 2.5yo would fit RF (in any of them) until I told her that my soon to be 3yo girls happily ride RF in the non cushy version of the OA. She was totally surprised that I still have my girls RF at their age (I wish I had them with me so she could have seen their size to know RF is totally possible).
She went for the Harvest CA (the orange/brown one) because it was on sale for $150. I gave her the # to our local car seat hotline so she could get installation help if she needed it. I really hope she's happy with it & that she really does use it RF (she seemed receptive on it).
