OMG today I was playing with my momentum and I noticed that when I pull up on the harness from the legs, IT RELEASES SLACK!!! I thought at first it was coming from the other side but it's not a continuous strap.

Does anyone else have this issue?? I'm going to file a thingy on nhtsa and call evenflo tomorrow. It wasn't ever used by me, but I bought it off here early this month for my friend.

were you doing this without a child in it? I think the harness works a bit weird, and only stays tight with a child in the seat, because of how the infinite harness works.

I did it without a child, but I highly doubt the harness is weight sensitive. I don't see how it would be different. Should I try to post a video?

A video would help me.

I'm a bit confused. Is the Momentum like the EFTA, where the shoulders are fixed and the harness tightens and loosens from the hips?

I'm not very familiar with this particular car seat so I went to BRU.com to look it up. Of course I wound up having to read the reviews, got to the one where someone posted a photo of their child in it and just went

It's the only review with a photo on the first page.

I reported it as inappropriate and said the reason was "problem with image" and explained the gross misuse and that it should not be propagated to unknowing parents (mentioned that child would be ejected in an accident).

I am not sure about where the harness tightens, but I know the momentum has the same infinite height harness as the EFTA/E65, but has a front adjust pull rather than the knobs.

I imagine that might be the issue, then. With no kid in it, there's nothing to hold the harness up in the "slots," so it slides down (unless it's at the very lowest setting.) With a kid in it, the shoulders stop the harness from sliding down.

But I'd have to see it in person for sure.

Is it releasing slack by the tabs moving, or by the hips scrolling out more slack, though? If it's the latter (which is how I'm reading the post,) then it IS a problem. The position of the tabs has no bearing on whether or not the harness should allow additional slack at the hips.

OK so to clarify, yes the momentum is like the EFTA where the shoulders move up and down and the slack comes from the hip area. The momentum doesn't have the knobs, it's a regular ol harness adjuster on every other car seat.

When I tested it, I put the slots in the bottom most spot, pulled the adjuster until it was tight, then pulled up on the straps at the hip area. It totally released the slack and is now loose.

I'll post a video later tonight or tomorrow, sorry my friend just had a baby and I've got midterms!

Call Evenflo... they should replace the seat... but good to have a video... I'd let the csr rep know you are emailing it to them and do so... post it on youtube so other parents can look out for it (make sure to word it carefully so people don't panic) and of course, report it (and the outcome, which should be Evenflo quickly replacing the seat and having you destroy the old one or send it back to them with a free shipping label) to NHTSA.

OMFG... baby should be rf, though she might be 1yr and 20lbs, so hencefore SHOULD, not "is supposed to be"... straps are way loose, aftermarket straps, belly clip, and then that bar which was bad enough on an infant seat if they used it sitting there in her lap...

Here's the video I made. I just added it to youtube, so it might not show up yet but I don't know. Not only was this an issue with my momentum, but also the triumph! I'm stumped as they have totally different tightening mechanisms. There's another longer video with my gross flu voice which explains it further. I pulled up the strap with my pinky, which looks weird I know but just to show how easy it was!

ETA: I called Evenflo and they sent me replacements....which I'm now selling because my friend doesn't need them!!

uh, yeah, that's a problem.

when things like this happen, do you guys notify nhtsa like us canadian techs tend to notify tc?

So the Momentum65 you have in your video is NOT the seat I sold you and I am very upset that you are saying I sold you a faulty seat.
 I don't see anything like what you're talking about anywhere in this thread. The OP has already dealt with Evenflo and had new seats sent to her.

The faulty seat she has shown in her video is not the one I sold her that she said is faulty..... Remove me if you want but I know the truth....

What's wrong with her asking for the receipt? That doesn't sound like harassment to me.
