The retractor/locking mechanisms are not working properly on both outboard positions in my 3rd row. The one, passenger side, I knew wasn't working since we bought it (used) but I thought I fixed the problem when I got the twist out of the seat belt--the twist had been up inside the retractor. But now it's doing the same thing it used to do; you pull it out and it doesn't go back it by itself or by feeding it in. It mostly stays locked, but sometimes doesn't. Then the other night I was trying to install in the drivers side one and that one wasn't staying locked when it should. I pulled it all the way out to set the lock, then it pulled back in fine but when the seat was almost installed--not tight yet--it stopped clicking and just stayed that loose. I thought perhaps it had gotten to the end of the "clicks" and unbuckled the seat while keeping the belt still, then slowly let a little at a time in to the retractor, tugging each time to feel for a lock. After several inches of NO lock, it caught and started locking again.
So those need to be replaced, right?
DH called the Chevy dealer and both retractor parts are discontinued! They searched the database and there are two in a warehouse somewhere for the left side (is left driver or passenger?), and none for the right side. Do I have any other possibilities? DH talked to a few parts places since sometimes discontinued parts are picked up by another company, but they said with seatbelts it's different and when they're gone, they're gone.
