When will she outgrow her RN? Pics inside.

My DD2 turned 3 at the end of December. She's 38" tall and 35lbs with about a 15" torso height.
When do you think she'll outgrow her Radian rear facing? I was hoping to get her to 4yo. If it's not going to work I'm going to start re-evaluating our seat situation.

Here is a picture of how much room she has above her head:
The hat really doesn't add much bulk.

Here's a picture of where her shoulders are:
She's a teensy bit above the second to last harness slot.

For comparison's sake, here she is when we first got the Radian. This was four months ago in September 2010. It was uninstalled, so her torso height got pushed down a little thanks to gravity, but she shot up not long after that and was just a hair below the 2nd to last harness slot up until recently. She finally became even with it and I moved it up.

So what do you think? How much time rear facing does she have? She hasn't had her 3 year growth spurt yet. It will hit her sometime within the next year.

Wow, she has a long torso (now). Or maybe it seems that way to me because my kids have insey ones. My DH is on the same slot, FFign and he is 5.

I would guess 12 to 18 months for RFing, 3 years FFing.

She about the same as my three and a half year old....although, depending on his clothes, he is sometimes just below the top slot. I am thinking at least one year.

She just had a huge growth spurt, so as long as it's done, I would think you'll be good for a while. :)

I also wanted to add that she is now 38" and was around 36" at 15 months old (she's now 37mos old). The picture from September that shows how much shell she has left is a little inaccurate- Her head is a little bent down in the picture.

Looking back:

At 15mos, her stats were: 36" tall, 13" torso, 28lbs

At 2yo, her stats were 37" tall, 14" torso, 30lbs

At 3yo (now, at 37mos at least) her stats are 38" tall, 15" torso, 35lbs (this growth occured around October, I believe).

If her trend continues, she'll be 39" tall with a 17" torso by her 4th birthday- however, if she were to continue that trend (1" per year) she'd meed the Illinois 4'9" requirement (not that I'm going by that, just an example) by her 19th birthday  Lol.

Based on her slow growth (she SHOT up between 3mos-15mos and was slow ever since- eats a LOT though) I'm guessing that she's due for a huge and fast growth spurt.. soon.

What do you think?

At some point soon, her torso will grow very little while her legs and arms stretch out to "big kid" proportions. I think you have a few years.

I'm betting she's had her 'big' torso growth spurt, and any growing you see from this point forward will be in her legs. At least for the most part. I don't think you'll have any problem getting her to 4yrs.

She fits in it very similarly to my almost-4yo, and I think it will last them both another 1.5-2y RF assuming steady, normal growth.

So her last two inches of growth have been all torso, no legs? And there's no way she will grow two inches of torso while only growing one inch overall. ;) Sounds like she's due to grow some legs.

mumof2- WOW your DD has just about outgrown it RFing! Crazy to see her just inching up in height! Thanks so much for the pictures. My DD is about where yours was in Nov 2010. I'm probably going to ask you again in the future about how your DD fits in the RN :)

yeah she grew a couple of inches since her birthday. I am hoping she will have a growth spurt in her legs. Id really like to get her RF to her 4th birthday (November) but if I have to turn her before then I will.
