Marathon vs. Decathalon

Can anyone tell me if the Decathalon is that much better than the Marathon? My son is already 2 and is outgrowing his Roundabout, so I was all set to get him a Marathon, but a friend suggested the Decathalon. Now I don't know if the Marathon is a smart choice. Anybody have an opinion??? Thanks.

I believe the biggest difference between the MA and DC is that the DC has an infant insert. I have a friend who purchased the DC for her 7month old. The pillow needed to be removed as soon as the child can sit up unassisted. Therefore, the padding had no use and she could have just gotten the MA.

Well theres a number of differences between the DC and the MA...

1. Push button harness adjuster (which gives ALOT of people ALOT of problems, but it is also great for a houdini child that likes to play with their adjuster)

2. Adjustable Crotch Strap (it has 3 positions instead of just the 1 that the MA has, but I dont care for it much)

3. Infant Insert Pillows (these seem to help infants fit a little more snug, but it would compress in an accident anyway, it just a comfort issue)

All in all, I dont see much point in the DC, some parents love theirs, but I didnt like it personally. I have heard too many issues with that push button adjuster. I would push you towards the MA, I absolutely love mine.

Just a comment on this- many people have NOT had a problem with the adjuster- myself included. I loved my DC very much and never had difficulty with the adjuster or the lockoffs or anything for that matter. We only used it FF, though- because my daughter was 34 lbs when we bought it. It also gave more crotch room than the MA- which IS important when you have an older child -not an infant. Just wanted to add my positive info!

ITA with Tina. I have NOT had one problem with my adjuster and I love my DC. The crotch strap is nice to get a snug fit for an infant but a looser fit for an older child. I also know there is no way my DD will figure out how to loosen her straps and escape. The DC really gets a bad rap but there are good ones. We would like to get another DC but the patterns really stink right now. Come on Shannon DC!!

We had one of the bad harness adjusters. IT was horrible. But then we never used it FF as it was Tiffinay and my 2 yr old wouldn't have liked that at all. So we returned it and got another Marathon.

I would also like to add, that the Roundabout (low top slots and all) was my favorite Britax. It had the best adjuster of any britax I have tried.
