Question about super latch

Does this statement apply to Canadian cars?

"Sunshine Kids does allow consumers to use the specialized LATCH attachments up to the full weight capacity of the Radian carseat - up to 65 lbs for Radian65 SL and up to 80 lbs for Radian80 SL & Radian XTSL - if the vehicle was manufactured after Sept. 1, 2005"

Also I have a 2001 Volvo S40 and I can not find in the manual where it states what the isofix weight limits are. Anyone know what they are?

Thanks

It doesn't even relaly apply in the US. I would not go past the vehicle limits. The Volvo limit is "follow CR instructions" So I would not go over 40 lbs.

Other than the Radian's limit is 48 pounds, so I'd do that instead of 40.

There was a LATCH change made standard on September 1, 2005. Sunshine Kids says that it's not the lower anchors that are the issue, it's the connectors that would fail first. So with their stronger connectors you can use it to the full weight of the seat. Whether or not you do is your choice, IF your car is made after September 1, 2005.

With a 2001 car you must go with the Radian's UAS (the Canadian version of LATCH) limit, which is 48 pounds.

Also know that your car does not have LATCH in the center.

Sunshine Kids sells the "Super LATCH" strap for $20 on their web site, and in the picture there the strap is shown as being red. (see here)

I have a follow-on question:

I have a Radian 80 car seat (model 80, not 80SL).

Can I turn it into an 80SL (that is, raise the LATCH limit to 80 lbs) by replacing the LATCH strap with the Super LATCH strap?

Same question asked another way: Does anyone know whether the difference between the 80 and the 80SL is just the strap? Or is there a difference in the construction of the seat?

Thanks!

I was going to post 48, then read something and changed my mind. I agress with 48.

I don't care what the web site says, I wouldn't go past 48 lbs.

I asked that question of them and they said that I couldnt.

I know that there is at least one other structural change between the non-SL and SL seats. It's not just the strap.

Thank you everyone. Now if only I had a SL that stayed tightened

I was wondering if it was worth it for me to hound SKJP about replacing my SL as DS is already at 42 lbs. I have been using the seat belt since discovering that my SL had been loosening.
