Question Bench vs Captain's Chairs in SUV for 2 infants + toddler

My wife and I are expecting twins in June and we currently have a son who will be 17 months when they are born. We are in the market for an SUV...something in the realm of a Buick Enclave, Chevy Traverse, Honda Pilot, Yukon or Hyundai Veracruz (still need to do some test driving). We are having a debate on whether it would be more beneficial to have a second row with 2 captain's chairs (the twins in the captain's chairs and are son in the 3rd row) or if it would be better to have a bench on the second row and have all 3 car seats there?
Would definitely love to hear some opinions on whether it's harder to squeeze through the middle of two captain chairs to get our 17 month old buckled into the third row or if it is easier to have 3 car seat across on a bench. Also, any opinions on the above mentioned SUV's are welcome, too!
Thanks!

We have 4 kids. And have owned both minivans and suvs. I would personnaly recommend a minivan with captains. Remove 1 captain, put 1 kid in other captain and 2 outboard in the 3rd row.

If you really want a suv, I would get a 2nd row bench. We could easily fit 3 across our suburban/yukon.

Do you have an infant seat? What does you lo ride in? Have you heard of extended rearfacing?

Thanks for you input!!!!!

We have a Snugride32, which my son used and now he rides in a Britax Boulevard. As of now, we're planning on my son in the Britax Blvd, one of the twins in the Snugride and the other in something we will purchase soon. Have not heard of extended rearfacing? We actually just turned the car seat around from the rearfacing position.
My wife is dead set against the minivan, so SUV it is. I was leaning towards the bench. I would think it would be harder to climb through the middle of the captain's chairs to the 3rd row to put my son in but would love to hear other people's opinions who have gone through this.

Hello! I am in your same situation now. We are pregnant with twins, due in August, and have a 17-month old son now. We have the exact same questions you had. What did you end up doing? Did you go with a middle row bench and all 3 car seats in that row? If so, what SUV did you go with? Any help would be appreciated! :) -NH
