Graco smart seat. (pix added)

Pix when I get home complete with model. Played with it today uninstalled because that sucker is a beast and bru got rid of their test bench.

A is 16 months old, 30lbs, 15ish inch torso, wears 3T tops and 2T bottoms.

At which BRU is it in stock? Or all of them? I may need to take a trip to one this week just to see it.

I called around and lynnwood is the only one that has it in right now. Both the boy and girl models.

When you get your hands on it, can you get the lowest booster belt guide hight and the highest booster belt guide height? For the lowest belt guide, make sure to put it in the lowest allowable headrest position (4th position from the top). We also need the crotch buckle legth (actual strap and buckle length).

darn, if I would have seen this earlier i would have been happy to, but I'm already back home. I do want to go back and play with it in the car probably later this week, so if it's not there by then I'll grab them.

Would this make a good "Infant to 10 year old" car seat to get someone -- normal car seat user who might otherwise use something off craigslist/expired -- as a baby shower gift?

possibly. I didn't have a noob with me, but the lowest harness slot was kinda high. I'm not sure that a noob would actually fit depending on torso. It was nice and wide though and looks awesome so I could see a big kid liking it.

Man all these kids look like they are gonna have kinks in their necks after a car ride. Is it just the pics or is his poor head really pushed that far forward?

it's pushed pretty far forward. :( the headrest part is a little over an inch thick at the thinnest part. A was screaming mid way through pictures because it was uncomfortable. Also the harness covers are almost an inch thick, really thick.

Do they allow the kiddo to go above the back of the seat (the actual seat, not the headrest) rf... it doesn't look like he has a lot of height left for rf. Or is it just the angle of the pics? lol.

In the manual, it states that the head must be at least 1 in. below top of head support (not shell) when rearfacing. When rearfacing though, you are only allowed to use the 3 lowest strap height/head support positions, which might lower your total rearfacing height.

From just looking at internal shell height when rearfacing, the complete air has a 27.5" measurement while the smart seat has a 23" measurement rearfacing (28.5" forward facing though).

That's correct, sorry haven't been on since early afternoon. A is on the 3rd lowest strap height in all rear facing pictures and would have about 6 inches of growing room before he was 1inch below the top of the headrest in that position. I think I have a picture of that.

So he is about the size of my son(his weight is wrong in my siggy/bad scale, he's 30 pounds). That would mean he would still have quite a bit of room correct.

Here's the growing room picture
102_1759.jpg
The 7 inch mark on the tape is the top of the headrest, it looks a little off because of that tag. So A would have 6 inches of torso growth room, however you have to keep in mind that you can't move the harness up any more positions in rear facing mode, so that may mean he wouldn't make it 6 more inches, or maybe he would, we don't know.

ETA: this picture also shows the thickness of the headrest.

Looking at the sticker for the recline positions, it looks like it says that after 40# you can't use the seat reclined anymore.

I'm going to add some photos as well.

Piper in the booster all the way up:

Piper had about two inches to go in the car, so I don't think this is terribly accurate. She's got about a 19" torso (the top harness height in the car was well below her shoulders) and had two inches.

Laine set up rear facing. She's on the second of the three rear facing headrest heights:

Installed in the car for a newborn. My car has SUPER sloped backseats. This went in in 10 seconds, no noodles, no nothing.

This was the next upright click, I think:

Piper in the car. She was able to get it buckled, but the tags and harness were in the way so she wasn't comfortable.
