Let's try making a searchable thread that lists all the seats & vehicles we have at our disposal that we're willing to answer questions about and do test installs with. We can still post our questions, such as "how does seat x work in car y?" in the appropriate forum, so that the information is there for everyone. But we can also look to see if there's someone we can pm to direct them to our question, rather than just hoping the right person sees our post. And we would also be able to pm those pesky little curiosity questions that we would never bother the whole board with .
We'll need a consistent naming system. For the car seats, I suggest we use the names that the manufacturers use. For example, My Ride (with a space), SnugRide (no space). We should also leave spaces between the name and any letters or numbers (eg. XT, SL, 65 etc.) because many of these variations are the same seat. And even when they're not, it's easier to sort it out after searching rather than before.
For the vehicles, leave spaces between make & model, use full model year (eg. 2006, not '06), and no hyphens (eg. F150). If in doubt, like when the model name is shorter than 4 characters (thus making it unsearchable with the "search thread" option), we could list the name in different forms. For example, "Mazda 5 Mazda5" would make it show up in a search for both "Mazda" and "Mazda5".
Obviously, we'll have to remember to keep it updated, and at some point we'll probably just have to start over. I know there's a time limit of some sort on editing posts, but worst case, you make a new post and someone might pm you about a seat or vehicle you no longer have. You'd probably still know the answer .
