When can a backless become a back up?

I am moving DD 6.5 into a booster full time and need to get something for Grandmas car. She would use it for emergencies and for the occasional time we end up working late and she has to pick her up somewhere. Could she use a backless in a pinch or is that totally unsafe?

Here is a good blog that might help explain the safety difference between highback and no-back.

I had my 5 year old using a backless occasionally. As long as there was adequate head support in the vehicle, I felt it was safe. I still prefer a highback for the extra side impact protection and the way it positions my daughter while she is sleeping. I didn't get too upset about her in a no-back occasionally though.
