Did I pick right?

My daughter is 43 inches, and 40 pounds in a marathon. She looks sort of silly in it lately, and only has about 1/2 an inch if that left in the belt height option.

I just placed an order for a frontier, but now I'm second guessing my choice. Should I have gone with a sunshine monterey and skipped the frontier? Is the 5 point harness for a little longer worth an extra $100 for her? I wonder how long she will actually even fit in the harness on the frontier over the marathon. So many choices, and so much information makes my head spin.

Depends. How old is she? If she's two then definitely the Frontier. If she's six then a booster would be an acceptable option.

For a three year old the Frontier is a fine option. A harness is a definite must.

To give you an idea, your Marathon has top slots just over 16". The Frontier has 20" top slots and then goes to 23" as a high back booster. With a nine year lifespan, it's very likely she'll sit in it until she fits in the adult seatbelt, or you decide to move her to a backless booster around 8-10 years old (you can get one for about $13).

If you'd rather not the Frontier, I'd look at the Graco Nautilus or Recaro ProSport, but definitely a harness over a booster. The Frontier will give you the option to harness her until she is done needing a harness, which is usually between five to six years old, though some kids are older. With a long torso like hers (most three year olds are not within a half inch of outgrowing the Marathon) the Frontier's high top slots will give you options.

You definitely made the right choice... she's not only old enough and heavy enough for the seat, but with that long torso and her being on the higher percentiles for height and weight, the frontier will ensure she'll be harnessed until she's mature enough and ready for a booster... and it makes a GREAT one.... and as wendy said, with the lifespan and it going so tall as a booster, it could be the last primary seat you buy.
