Anyone know why Maestros are hard to find online?

I remember Amazon, Sears, etc used to sell the Maestros. I'm finally needing one in the next month and can't find any of the colors I want. The only places I can find them are Babies R Us and Target (and I'm not a fan of either color).

I'd really like either the one from Sears or the GN/boys one that used to be at Baby Depot, but I can't even find the Oahu one anymore either!

I hope I don't get stuck buying the Henderson from BRU b/c the seat isn't available anywhere else. I really need the seat in the next 3 weeks...grrr it looks like I waited too long!

Are they changing cover styles, preparing to release the 65 pound version, or are these seats just not selling?

I'm not sure. I'm in NYC which makes negotiating things a little tricky. There is a baby depot in the city, but I can't drive there to try it out in my car. I guess I could try to drive to the suburbs to find a seat, but that is wasting $10 in tolls if they don't! I just wanted to have it shipped...so much easier! I'll have to make some calls.

But really I wanted that plain, boring, grey cover from Sears, so I'm bummed!

I've been trying to wait and wait in hopes that they would surprise everyone and release the 65 pound version before I need it (because based on my son's growth, he's going to be 50 pounds in a year or so...he was 31 pounds a year ago and he's 40 now at 3 years, 8 months and growing like a sprout).

I called diapers.com about the maestro and the customer service rep asked someone higher up who said that they were working on it and hoping to have them mid January. I wouldn't count on it but keep checking, when they get it you can probably have it the next day with their awesome free next day shipping.

I would pay double if they'd make a red option!

Thanks for the tip!

Maybe I'll even call evenflo and ask what is up.

Okay, I called. Evenflo said that retailers other than BRU and Target have cut down massively on orders from them (numbers went from thousands per week to 50 or so a month) and that is why they are hard to find.

Evidently they aren't selling well. (My guess is recall fears, but is only a personal guess based on no information from Evenflo at all :) ).

No plans to release new fabrics in the next few months.

The 65 pound version is still a ways away.

Anyway, they have replacement fabric sets for $30-40, so I would guess unless I happen to be close to a Sears that has the silvers pattern, I'll use a BRU coupon and just get the Henderson and swap out the fabric.

I'm just not a fan of brown car seats at all :(

I have $75 worth of gift cards to Target and was going to get their Maestro, but I HATE that cover. I thought about making a post and see if someone would trade me for the Henderson cover if I got the one from Target, but I figured no one would go for it, so I waited until I finally got a BRU coupon then I bought the Henderson one. Turns out I might have had some luck after all, LOL! I actually really love that cover.

Saw the henderson today in person and it is much, much nicer than it appears online. However, it would still look awful in my back seat but would look great with a tan interior!
