Are there any links/articles besides KDM for keeping child in a 5 point?

A friend just posted a video of her 2 year old son in his new "big boy seat" Yep, you guessed it, a HBB. What would your recommend for a good link that describes when a child has reached the maturity to be in a booster? In made my stomach turn to see him wiggling and leaning all around in this video. I'm not going to comment/PM her directly, but was hoping for something that I could just post as an FYI on my FB hoping that she may see it and reconsider her choice. (doubtful, but worth a try, right?)

Belle's story? WHile it isn't US, it's not as "harness as long as possible" like the KDM is. Just talks about the dangers of little ones in boosters. It doesn't scare you away from boosters as it says her 7 year old sister was in one and did fine and says you shouldn't booster below 5 instead of harness as long as possible like KDM.

As for links, I don't know any but I suck at that :p

Ideally he should still be rearfacing too, so maybe post links about that as well?

I've posted numerous ERF links/comments. I know that will not happen (at least he is closer to 3 than he is 2-birthday is in June), but at least if she'd put him back in a 5 point... She said the passed his CA to his younger sister (PRAYING she is still RFing since she isn't even 1 yet) I always find it easier to post a general PSA when I see these things, less threatening to the party that inspired it and maybe it will educate someone else in the process...

Yep I do the same thing on my FB. If someone posts their kids in the seat wrong I just pop up a video of proper use for that situation. I also periodically post videos randomly about different situations. I'm pretty sure people are tired of it by now, but I don't care.

We just had a very nice, civilized conversation via FB PM and she said she is bringing the booster back tomorrow! Apparently she had deleted some very nasty comments from other people on her page and thanked me for going about things in a more respectful way. I gave her a couple combo seat recommendations :)

Awesome :)

I know there's a study that discusses higher incidence of head injuries in boostered kids 2-3, but I haven't a clue which it is or how to find it. I do know that the Volvo/RF study shows the rate of injuries going up when kids under four are turned & boostered (because the options for a 3yo there are essentially RF or booster.) It might be of use in the future.

I'm glad she was so receptive! I've had those kind of conversations go very well, and others go very badly. It's so hard to know how people will react, even when you are being respectful and gentle.

I'm glad she responded well and is putting her LO back in a harness.

To answer the question (for others searching and finding this thread later) I think Belle's Gift is one of the better 5pt vs. booster PSAs. The older sister who was old enough to be in a booster was fine, and that says a lot.
