Stroller for special situation

Here is my situation:
I am legally blind, and use ADA Paratransit ad my main form of transportation. Sometimes this is a late model sedan type car, sometimes it is handicap bus. Neither have the option of LATCH. I currently transport both my kids (1 is an 11 year old, so no problems) and a 27 month old. I must take his carseat with me- it is not an option to leave it in the vehicle I am transported in. My current solution is is my Maclaren Easytraveller, which my Cosco Scenera fits very nicely and securely down into- I am very happy with this arrangement, it has worked well for us.

My problem now is I am expecting our third child in July, and will need to transport 2 carseats- the afore mentioned Scenera and our Graco bucket (the smaller weight limit type) I need to find a stroller that will accomodate both seats safely- I am open to adding extra straps to a stroller if nececcary.

I would prefer a front/back arrangement, as my narrow field of vision already greatly impares my ability to maneuver and not run into thing on th esides.

I have looked at the sit and stand type strollers, but think I would prefer to have one with 2 regular seats.

I am open to different carseats, but in the essence of saving money would prefer to use what we already have, since they each have several years left in htem.

I have looked at the vest type restraints for my toddler, but he is not ready for those yet at only 28#, and I feel a real carseat is safer anyway.

If you got this far thanks for reading! I would love to hear suggestions, and if anyone wants to set their carseat in their stroller and tell me if they do/do not work/would work with modifications, etc, I would be forever grateful.

Since your already happy with your easy traveller, how about a double frame stroller? Baby Trend makes one. I have never pushed one though so I can't it'll be any better than the sit n stand. But maybe still worth a look to see if the scenera fits securely in it.

Have you thought about getting a duo glider or similar double and put your toddler in one seat, the baby in the snug ride, and hanging the scenera off the handle with those "mommy shopper" hooks or something else rigged up to make it easier to push and walk.

Just a question - will you frequently travel alone with both of the younger children or do you typically have another person with you (like your 11 year old or another adult?)

Ok - so, I am going to run through everything I can think of right now.

First, I suggest you go to Babies R Us and try out some of the tandem strollers (front to back). I personally find them more difficult to maneuver than the side by side, but understand with your vision problems, this might be ideal.

Well-made double strollers are difficult to find at afforable price points.

Kolkrafts contours makes a double that accomodates infant seats and looks big enough to hold a scenera too.

It is a heavy stroller but will give you lots of flexibilibility in configurations and is afforable.

Joovy makes a stroller called the "Big Caboose" which has two seats, plus a large storage area. This might be ideal because it would give you lots of storage room for your gear, including the carseat.

I am fond of the single strollers that have the option to be doubles. I find they are smaller and easier to maneuver.

Baby Jogger offer the City Select.

Britax offers the B Ready

A few years ago, Chicco had protyped a double side-by-side umbrella stroller than accepted a Chicco infant seat. It never hit the market, but maybe if you call them and explain your unique situation, they might sell you one of the prototypes. I was really mad that it never came to market. It was perfect. My scenera fit in my Chicco single umbrella and since the sides are soft, I imagine it would fit in the double too.

Another side by side that shouldn't be ignored is the baby jogger city micro. It only costs $200 and the wheels were designed so that it is very easy to go through doors even though it is a side by side. It is light-weight too.

Two potential drawbacks - I am not sure if it will be wide enough to fit your scenera and it doesn't have a full newborn recline. If you plan to keep the baby in the infant seat, it wouldn't be a problem. But - it would last a really long time.

Okay, I just went out and tried (you had me curious). I have the Graco Quattro Tour Double:

http://www.gracobaby.com/Products/Pages/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductID=1777052

It comes with a rear tray that allows the infant seat to hook on or a front "bar" that you can hook the infant seat to also. What worked for me was to take the rear tray off, recline the back seat all the way and then I set my convertible (I have an Avenue which is just slightly larger than the Scenera) in the back seat. The car seat was facing forward and fit quite nicely in there. It felt pretty secure. I would run a bungee cord through the forward-facing belt-path and hook to the stroller frame on the sides but I am fairly certain it would stay that way. This stroller I don't feel like would tip easily either (partly due to the weight).

The only drawback to this is the stroller is quite heavy (39 lbs.) and when you add the weight of the kids plus 2 car seats, it may be hard to push.

I know the original DuoGlider by Graco is much lighter, only 29 lbs. I do not know if you could fit your Scenera in the back though, might be worth a try.
