My grandson will be out of his rear facing car seat soon, we tried installing the Radian XL rear facing in the middle, but the arm rest has some metal piece at the bottom and we can not get a good fit, does anyone know of any carseat that will fit rear facing. Thank You

Welcome! I would guess that the "toes" of the recline foot were hitting the metal piece? If that's the case, then you could try pulling the seat out from the crack (officially called the bight) of the seat and reinstall. Other seats to try would be any of the Britax convertibles, the Safety 1st Complete Air, the Graco My Ride, and The First Years True Fit models. Any of those seats are terrific rear-facing seats that will last for a long time.

Thanks for the suggestions murphydog (it was my seat we tried to install in the Venza for my SIL - yes we're all related lol)

I found if I pulled the seat out of the bight to install there was way too much slack at the belt path, and the angle was horrid. The taught leather seats don't help!

I tried my TrueFit in the center position as well but once I got a good angle and a solid install the harness adjuster was really difficult to get to. I am okay with the continuous harness on the TF and would probably just adjust it once and leave it, but I would be worried that it wouldn't be used properly every time if this were the case.

I think we're going to go to BRU and try the TFP to see if the anti-rebound bar helps with the adjuster (I've heard it does)

We're also going to try the CA and the MR65 and see what fit we can get in the center. Ultimately the safest seat is one that is likely to be used correctly each time so that might mean an outboard install.

I'm sure ONE of those seats will work well in the middle!
