Top slots on SS1

Are these actually usable before the seat is outgrown in height? I was looking at L in it the other day and it just seems that once her torso is that long, her head would be too close to the shell.

This has been talked about before. There are kids who will use them and still have an inch above their head. There are other kids (like mine) who will never get to the top slots. Oddly enough, my oldest could have rode in my SS1 until her 2nd birthday, and my middle dd rode in it until she was about 20mos. Neither used the top slots, and both outgrew the seat by the 1" rule.

Thanks, guys. I apparently need to work on my searching abilities, I tried to find this and couldn't.

I was looking at mine yesterday. DS has a big head so will outgrow the seat by the 1" rule before he hits the top slot.

Oh no that's not what I meant, sorry. It's fine that you posted about it! :)

No, I figured as much. I just always try searching things and never can find them. That was a more general statement. Though I was able to confirm using the Scenera FF in recline mode through search. I must be getting better. ;)

Glad to see L isn't some disproportionate child and this is a common thing.

Here's my guy when he was 7 months old in the SS1 on the top slots with about 2" of shell above his head. So it is possible.:)

And here he is at 11 months old with just barely an inch of shell left. This was the last time he road in this seat.:(

Neither of my DDs used the top slots. DD1 rode in it until about 16 months when she outgrew it by height. DD2 rode in it for a year when we swapped it out for a convertible. She might still fit in it at 19 months.
