Lots of space at the crotch buckle

When I get Sanna into her Marathon, I make sure she is sitting back against the seat. Then I tighten her. But she can move her bottom out toward the crotch strap, so she ends up slouching and then there is slack at her shoulders. I obviously don't want her to be too loose, but I also don't want her to be slouching and compressed. The middle position on the Decathlon was just a little out from her bum, but the Marathon has a great deal more space down there.

I know that you can put a rolled up receiving blanket at the crotch strap for infants. Can you do that in a convertible seat too? Do I need to? She's 14 months old, 16.5 pounds, and totally buttless. I don't expect her to "grow into" the seat really.

I have never been told you can't. I would do it, a washcloth, cloth diaper or receiving blanket.
