Loosening Base Install

Help! I installed my friends Snugride base in the center of her 2006 Dodge Calibur. I used the locking clip due to the seatbelt tilting the base when locked. I had that thing in rock solid with the locking clip, then one week later she says it's loosening. I checked and while it's not moving more than an inch side to side it is definately looser than when I installed it. I reinstalled it and we will see. The fabric on her seats is not exactly plush, but it's not vinyl either. She did get it Scotch Gaurded at the dealer when she bought the car last summer. Could this be making it loosen up? Should I try some shelf liner? I am hesitant to try that after reading here that using the shelf liner is not really recommended.

What the heck is making this thing loosen?

P.S. I have installed tons of Snugrides this way and none have loosened. That's why I am dumbfounded by this! :)

Sometimes I swear the only answer with snugrides is to use a rolled towel or noodle instead of the recline foot...it just molds and holds it all together so much more better than that slippery foot does. And, sometimes Dodge's have center LATCH... not in that car?

The car does have center LATCH. Kind of. It basically says the same thing that my Escape does. I had it installed with the LATCH and it was rock solid. I changed it to the seatbelt because I was under the impression that Graco did not allow center LATCH unless there were specific anchors for that location. The Calibur uses the outside anchors for center installations. Her MA fits beautifully in the center with LATCH.

I just found some noodles, so I will try that this evening. Hopefully, LO won't need as much recline soon. She is almost 5 months.
