Check these fits; RYS and TB

She won't be riding like this until she actually weighs over 40# but that may be sooner than I like. I will keep weighing her and hopefully she'll take her time on the last 0.5-1#

In the TB:

In the Young sport, booster mode (ignore the buckles, please. I will remove them when I actually change it over).

This would only be for DH's car which she rarely rides in, maybe once or twice a month. On planned trips (most of them) I can move the RN around. Mostly I just want a seat in his car for just in case, YKIM? I've been here long enough I think I know what my HWH options are and I'm not fond of any of them enough to pay that much with our current financial situation

But it is all a mute point if the fits are not good. I will get her what she needs to be safe then.

Thank you!

I like the overall positioning of the lap belt better in the TB, as long as you take the slack out. It looks loose right now.

Are you aware of the Maestro? 50 pounds, 17-18ish top slots, $75. Just in case you're not aware.

I like the lap belt fit on the TB, do not like the lap belt on the RYS.
I do not like the shoulder belt fit on the TB, can't really see the RYS shoulder belt fit, but from what I can see it looks better.
Take that as you will. I'll also second looking into the Maestro. :)

Sigh, that is what I thought.

I'm afraid the Maestro will be a stop gap. This child only weighed 31-32# pounds when I bought the Young Sport in April :( I'm afraid this may be a new trend and the Maestro won't last long.

I've also been spoiled by nice seat over the last few years. The fabric feels so awful

I can afford a Nauti at the end of January, FR85 at tax time. If I have to get a seat before then it will be a Maestro. We still have a pound :fingers crossed: I'm just terrified of spending more money on a seat then not getting as much use out of as I thought I would. Plus, I  my Young Sport :crying:

Honestly, it looks like all you really need IS a stop gap. 10 more pounds, even if it doesn't take her very long to gain, should take your to where the boosters will fit better.

I just noticed that the shoulder belt is twisted in the RYS, down near the lap. Watch out for that.

Are the TB armrests in the lower position?

No, it's not twisted. It routes oddly in the Civic and gets that fold to it. It doesn't do that in my van but the RN will be going there since she rides with me 98% of the time.

The arm rests are in the lower position.

Auzerlia- you're right, ten pounds will likely get us far enough. Plus, it'll be in DH's car, I won't have to touch it, right? (The fabric kind of sticks to my fingers and gives me the heeby-jeebies)

I like the fit of the RYS better; I don't see an issue with the fit of the lap belt in that seat? It looks to be touching her thighs and hips, not up on her tummy at all. :twocents: I think the shoulder belt looks better in the YS; in the TB, it looks too close to the edge of her shoulder, making it more likely to slip off in the event of a crash. Usually I say the TB is a great fit for most littles, but I like the YS better for your dd. At only 4, though, I lean more toward the Maestro, as others suggested, or a Nautilus if you want a seat that you can actually use the booster mode once the harness is outgrown.

To me the shoulder fit on the TB looks to be positional on the part of your daughter. It appears that she is scooted to the right a tad. At first I thought it might just be camera angle when looking at her arms, but her head is not centered in the seat either. The lap belt fit/overall belt geometry looks slightly better in the TB. The headwings on the RYS look like they would limit her movement and ability to be out of position better than the TB though. :twocents:

Thanks everyone. So they look like they may do in a pinch?
I'd rather have her in harness. I think she would be happier in a harness (The whole SPD, the likes the "hug" it gives her.) I just need to know we have an option if it comes to it. The YS will remain in a harness until she actually weighs 40#. I'll weigh her weekly, when I have access to that reliable scale (mine is $20 cheapy with a needle that can be hard to read). Hopefully we can make it through next month, she's not happy about me having to RN around yet. She's fine in that to the limit too.
Then I'll just have to figure out how much longer I want her harnessed and how long she would want to be haressed...

I'd use the RYS in a pinch... the lapbelt isn't ideal, but it's not bad... it's on her pelvis/hips... not on her soft tummy.

the shoulderbelt fit is just so much better.
