I am itching to buy a new seat......

It has been over 2 years since I bought a car seat. Anyways, I had been telling Kamille that she would be getting a booster for my car for her sixth birthday. She has been using a converted nautilus in daddy's car the once a month or less we ride with him, and does good, but I had been locking the seatbelt on her. I cant do that in my car, so it worries me. I am stuck with this car for now, although I am planning to buy a van with my tax return money. I have also been out of the car seat loop for about a year, so I want to know what are the "best" boosters these days. Also, I need it to fit in the backseat of a Volkswagen beetle from time to time, the nautilus already hits the back window. And it has to be uber-girly. We cant be seen with plain covers in our car.

Well the Graco Turbobooster comes in a variety of girly colors and is well under $100. The Sunshine Kids Monterey, Britax Parkway SG and SGL, and the Recaro ProBooster are recommended often as well. The Monterey comes in pink/grey, the SG comes in a light pink/black, and the SGL comes in a dark pink/black. The Probooster doesn't have any girly covers yet though (that I know of). :( Its newish.

recaro is releasing new covers on the proline in 2011. Just not sure when. But they have a super cute pink ProBooster on there.

The main difference between the SG and SGL is that the SGL can be latched in, so the seat does not have to be buckled into place when not in use. I think there are a few minor design modifications as well, but that was the big one. They both do have a minimum weight of 40 lbs though (my dd will not be 40 lbs when she is 6, so that point sticks out to me).

I thought that I recalled reading that the SG was recommended but not required? I'll see if I can find where I saw that, so don't just take my word for it!

ETA: here in the SGL manual on page 20 http://www.britaxusa.com/uploads/products/user-guides/78.pdf it says that the SG is recommended, but it does not say that it is required. Actually, the SG has the same wording on page 18 http://www.britaxusa.com/uploads/products/user-guides/48.pdf

I like this cover, it is more plush than my other favorite, Fairy Tales. I think we will end up with a turbo, or maybe a parkway SGL, depending on how broke I am in a couple of weeks. I want the SGL just because it is a darker pink than the SG, and my new van should have LATCH
