Hi

I had posted earlier asking for recommendations on convertible car seats for my triplets....... You all recommended the Uptown (we cannot afford 3 britax),since it can hold upto 40lbs I was wondering which one should be used after they are beyond 40 lbs??? does those come in 5 point harness?????

are there any car seats (booster) which is 5 pt harness and holds till 100 lbs???

any suggestions and info will be highly appreciated.

thanks

Can you copy/past a link to the other thread? Or share your kids' ages, weights, heights + vehicle years, makes, models

40# is the minimum harness weight limit, but the Uptown is a good seat (the "best" seat fits the child, fits the vehicle & is always used correctly) ... if your triplets are using infant-only seats then you definitely want a convertible, not a combination/booster seat yet! Please keep them rear facing until the maximum limits :)

If money is very tight I would use Sceneras for now & save towards high weight harness seats: currently there are no combination seats that harness past 40# & then become dedicated boosters. The Apex is the closest we come, but it requires tall vehicle seatbacks or adjustable headrests. When your children outgrow the convertible seats there will likely be more forward facing combination/booster options to choose from ;)

sending u the link where i was advised on trying the uptown......

from what i learnt (pardon my frozen brain, going nuts managing 10 mths triplets!!!!) uptown can be used till 40 lbs (5 pt harness), I prefer to keep my babies on 5 pt harness as much as possible so which one would be the next to buy ??? currently they weight 21-22 lbs and 29 inches (still in infant car seats )....

thanks in advance.

The next ones to buy will be 3-4 years away. I know it seems kids grow fast and will be 40 pounds like, tomorrow, but the Uptown will last rearfacing easily to age 2 or 3, then harnessed forward facing till age 3-5, depending on how fast your kids grow and gain. If you could afford Marathons, they would last till age 5-6, or the Radian would also last to age 6ish. I'd go with Uptowns now and see what seats are out in a few years, honestly seat development is so fast lately that there could be many choices in seats that harness up to 65-80 pounds (right now it's just the Regent and Apex and Radian and other Britaxes...not a huge selection, basically....)

What Julie said. Plus, you can start stashing money aside for their next round of seats. Even if it's just $2 here and $5 there, over the next 3-5 years it will add up and who knows what seats will be available then.
