need to know about Keyfit 30 please

Baby 3 is due Memorial Day weekend and I am already making myself nuts over which infant bucket to get. Dd had a Snugride, I think its called the Snugride 22 now. It fit ok in my Explorer but there wasnt much room for the front passenger, so I need a seat that isnt any deeper than that one and that will fit well in a 3 across.
Right now I am liking the Keyfit 30. Will it fit like the Snugride did? Also is it heavy? I have lupus and it affects my tendons frequently, mostly my hands so a heavy seat could be an issue.

Thanks

The Snugride 30 is a little lighter and a lot narrower than the 22 or even the Key Fit, it might be a good choice. When you were using your seat before, were you leaving the handle in the carry position? Usually seats fit pretty well when the handle's left up, but are more of a pain when you need space to put them down (sr30 and kf30 can be left up). Do you have a baby store near you to go and play with seats and see which you prefer?

i have a shuttle (original) by combi and it seems really narrow and closer to the seat back than my snugride did :) and its light..i haven't used it as i have it on craigslist because i dont need it so i cant tell you for sure..but i could take a pic of it in my car if you wanted :)

I was keeping the handle up. Is the Snugride 30 any deeper then the Snugride? I did see it but didnt bother with it thinking it was probably larger. We have a Babies R Us but its not a full size store, its about half of a usual one.

What year is your Explorer? Can you put the infant seat in the middle? I have an '06 and a Safeseat 1 (the same as the Snugride 32) and it fit nicely in the middle. I could also use it behind the passenger if I had the passenger seat upright. I figured out that at first, it was way too reclined.

Its a 2003, I need the baby in an outboard seat so I can get it in and out easier. Dd has a Marathon in the center and ds has a turbobooster on the other side. With my hands and weakness that I get its just easier to have the seat where it can be lifted in and out easily.

you should look for a seat where the handle can stay up when you drive because i remember that your supposed to put the handle down on the snugride when driving :) have you thought about just putting baby in a convertible seat?

No, the handle can be up on the SnugRide. :)

You can use all positions in the car except B & C.

Yup  Snugride handles have been allowed in the A (carry) position in the car since 2003 (Chicco and Safety 1st and Britax and Combi can/should all be left up, too, depending on the manual).
