Why is my buckle sticking?!

I have V this week while his mom's in DC meeting the president. He's RFing in a XTSL. I was doing drop-off at his Montessori school this morning, and when I went to unbuckle him, the left tong of the buckle was just not.wanting.to.come.out. I had to push REALLY hard on it before it finally released.
My first thought would be there was something spilt on it - juice, etc - except I only allow water in the car. Water would not have caused this problem, and whatever it is is ONLY on the left tong. What it felt like, when I finally got it to release, was that there's something wrong with the mechanism in there and I could feel it catching on something. *sigh*
Anybody dealt with this already? Any ideas on how I can get it to work correctly without having to order a second crotch buckle? I'd email SKJP, but Russ would say he's "never heard of this before," so I'm just going to skip that step and go straight to you guys. ;)

I don't know about the radian but I know sometimes in the graco If I have any tension on the buckle it will not release on one side.. I usually just rebuckle and make sure there is some slack and it comes right out.

I had this happen, plus it looked like my buckle was trying to separate. It was harder to buckle on the right side too, my affected side. I emailed SKJP and happened to deal with Kristin Nixon. She sent me a new crotch buckle free and new tongues too.

ETA: No drinks or food used in it.

Any chance of something in the buckle? Crumb, bit of paper, sand, etc? That can cause buckles to stick.

Does SK allow for the crotch buckle to be rinsed? (Others do) I'd try that first and then call SK if it doesn't help.
