Question Install plus one seat in 2010 odyssey LX

I am wondering if plus one seat (middle row, center seat) can be installed in the 2010 Odyssey LX model. If yes, please let me know what I need to buy apart from the seat itself and how to install it. I came across many sellers selling plus one seat and bracket and claim that it can be done by welding or screwing the bracket to the van. I am also read / heard about the liability issues. Any experienced help is appreciated.

Note: I understand that there is no seat belt (comes from the roof) for this seat in the Van. I am thinking to somehow use the booster seat's belts and latches to tie to the plus one seat.

Whether or not you can get a plus one in there, I would never "tie" a carseat to a seat using the buckles and straps. If you are that desperate for another seating position I'd rather you used the front seat over a jury rigged plus one. If you don't have the front seat available, you're out of room (unless the plus one has LATCH and you can use the LATCH system of a non booster seat, since booster seats require the seatbelt to hold the child in).

It would help a lot to know who you are transporting (ages and weights), what seats you have, and in what situation you can foresee this being necessary in. We'd love to help you arrive at a safe solution for everyone involved.

Welcome to car-seat.org :) Many members and car seat technicians here own Honda Odysseys.

Even if you could successfully and safely install an "8th seat" in a LX Odyssey, you are lacking a seatbelt. You must use a 3-point seatbelt or approved LATCH system to install a child in a booster or a harnessed seat.

Maybe we can help you come up with another solution?

I am not aware of any way a Plus One seat can be retrofitted into an LX model that is safe or legal to restrain a child occupant.

You don’t need a seat belt to legally and safely install a car seat... all of the plus one seats I have seen have 3 point latch anchors. Why can’t we just bolt the jack mounts? Or have a shop do it.
