I passed!

My class ended on Friday but I haven't really had time to post until now.

I got a 98 on the exam. I got one question wrong because I read it too fast. It was on lap belts and I knew the answer, but misread the question. It was a stupid one to get wrong. The other question was just stupid period, IMO. It was one of the scenario questions and the four possible answers didn't even seem to fit with the question. Our instructors told us not to read too much into each question, but apparently in this one I was supposed to assume that the parents turned their 25 lb. 2 year old FF in a convertible, because he arrived in a 22 lb. infant seat. Even after he explained the question to me, I still didn't understand it. Oh well! The highest grade in the class was a 99.

I tried really hard not to tick off my instructors on the last 2 days ;) I think I succeeded. I even chose the highback BPB for the 41 lb. 4 year old on the practical test, even though there was an Apex available. I was affraid they'd say I didn't demonstrate that I could install a BPB. But then the instructor checking it said "Is this best practice for this child?" Um, no, a HWH seat with a 5 pt. harness is. She was gonna get me either way!

And it SNOWED on the day of our practical exam??? Yes, snow in April! Luckily we were at a race track and we were able to bring our cars into the garages to do installations.

We had one student instructor and I talked to him during our check up event (which was a bust b/c of the weather & timing - not one person came!) and told him how I wished the curriculum had covered more HWH seats, extended harnessing, RF tethering besides Britax which is now available, and infant seats with 30 lb. weight limits. His just sort of stared at me and handed me his email

Apparently my local fire and police dept's have one CPST each, and the program director suggested I call them to see if they want any help with their fitting station. We also got a list of upcoming check up events that we can volunteer for. I know of at least one that I will go to so far. The sponsoring agency expects us to do two a year.

Oh, and I think I may have met Jodi (mom2acrew). They brought in an extra instructor from Maine on the day of our practial exams, and her name was Jodi. Coincidence? I didn't think to ask if she was the same Jodi  She was super nice though, whoever she was. And I was so happy to not be the only SAHM in the room anymore.

I can't wait to get my card to make it official.
