Big kid vs turbo booster

Why one vs the other? I've had a few friends ask since they are
both available at our local target. I know about using the TB screws but otherwise I don't know much about their general fit since I
don't own either.

In general, the TB will fit more kids better. It's also easier to adjust higher.

And the side impact protection as well. I liked that the TB has more protection/wings. And if I remember correctly the TB is taller.

I have a turbo and a big kid. The Big Kid booster seems really flimsy and doesn't offer a lot of side-impact protection with those small side wings. I do like the fold up armrests though, especially in a 3-across situation. Our big kid booster comes with the lights, though they never worked well as they weren't very bright and didn't direct the light into the lap area. It fit my older child okay, though wasn’t a great fit for my younger booster rider

I like our turbo and it fits both my kids. One thing I don’t like about it though is that the bottom separates so easily from the high back when moving it around. The Big Kid booster stays together much better.

When I measured both my seats, they seemed to have similar belt guide heights when at the highest setting.

Thanks! From quickly looking at them both online, I thought the SIP was possibly better on the TB. Glad to know more about the fit. I'll talk to my friends about the differences so they'll have better info to make their decisions.

depends on vehicle and kid... the tb does have eps foam, where only the dlx big kids do... the headwings on the turbo are also thicker... and the seat feels a bit less flimsy...

however, with that said, we do own a big kid because it is a slightly better fit in the vehicle we got it for (2-door 2007 chevy cobalt)... the seatbelts come from behind and the flatter belt guides make it a dream for the big kid, where they sometimes twist and (for turbos that still have the older style guides) would sometimes come unthreaded

it also gave a slightly better shoulderbelt fit for our narrow-shouldered daughter... for a wide shouldered child with a thicker neck (she really is skinny), I expect the shoulderbelt might be better with the turbo, but for us, it was the opposite.

and the flip up armrests and the general design (since my daughter doesn't even bother to flip them now) made it so she could buckle the BK more easily than the turbo... and with how contoured our vehicle seats in that car are, she found the BK more comfortable when I asked her to "pretend to sleep"

I really expected we'd be going with a turbo, but I was surprised to end up realizing the Big kid was a better choice.

for most kids, I'd say the turbo... but if the kid has super slim shoulders and/or the seatbelt comes from the vehicle seat, then a big kid might be a better choice.
