Annoyed at work - car seat rec

3 times now I've heard that the tech has recommended an Embrace for a baby at the car seat test to parents who didn't yet have a seat. I'm annoyed by this mainly because as far as I know, there is no place to go out and buy one. Is the Embrace still being made?

Maybe...I thought it was being replaced by the Serenade, though. Did those ever come out? We used to be able to buy Embraces at Walmart here, but they don't sell an Evenflo seat outside of a travel system here now. I know the Embrace fits tiny babies well and is inexpensive, but installation can be tough & the handle down + 1.5" thing makes it hard to get into smaller cars.

According to bing.com, the Embrace is available at walmart, Target, and Sears. Not the cheapest seat, though. Does it fit littles better than the Discovery? The Discovery is cheaper.

Is there a special reason this tech is giving a recommendation for a specific brand/seat in the first place? Like, is he/she saying "You should go get this one" or "This is the one I like" ?? :confused:

That I don't know. If I ever see her, I'll have to ask her about this.

I'm pretty sure the Embrace isn't available in any stores in my area. They do have the Serenade at Babies R Us. I think it's in the $170 - 180 range, so not cheap.

I do think the Discovery 5 might still be at Walmart , but am not positive. How does that compare in installation? I know it's cheap.

They have the Evenflo Embrace at my Walmart, Sears and Kmart for about 45.00-50.00. Now when I had my baby in Jan I had an Embrace and I took care of a little guy that was in the Discovery and the bottom slot was lower on the Embrace as far as I could tell and the Discovery was bigger over all and I had a hard time with the handle on the Discovery compared to the Embrace.
